Fierce Imaginings – God and the Great War
Monday, 19 November @ 19:30 - 21:00£5
Canon Rachel Mann is a priest in the diocese of Manchester with a long fascination for the Great war of 1914-1918. As we come to the end of a four reflecting upon that conflict and the effect it had on the world and those who experienced it we welcome Canon Rachel to help us explore the question: What effect did the Great War have on the perception of God and the Church. It has been suggested that the concept of God held by many of the combatants in the war died on the barbed wire of Flanders along with so many of those men. But what were the longer term effects for faith both for that generation and us who have followed them?
In her book Fierce Imaginings Rachel Mann explored this through the stories of the war she heard told in her family as a child. We look forward to hearing her share some of these stories, the insights they have brought and the questions they have raised.Share:
